‘Where is it coming from
and how is it made?’

It was our first major account in the fast moving consumer goods sector, and also the start of a long and sustainable partnership. Nestlé’s Global Responsible Sourcing Manager, Taylor Miller, and LPR’s Sustainability Manager, Gaël Gonzalez, spoke about their collaborative CSR relationship at the EcoVadis Sustain 2019 event in Paris last spring.

During their joint presentation, Miller and Gonzalez showed how LPR fits in Nestlé’s responsible sourcing programme. In this programme a 'Supplier Code' was developed. Regardless of the type of supplier, whether for packaging, raw materials or capital equipment, all suppliers have to answer the following key question:

All contracted suppliers are audited and assessed by independent verification firms, who assess criteria including minimum working age, environmental conditions, health & safety and female representation.

A strong connection through EcoVadis

A key driver behind the Nestlé responsible sourcing process is EcoVadis, an independent international platform that provides methodologies to rate supplier sustainability performance through scoring mechanisms, monitoring and ongoing recommendations to improve. The partnership between LPR and Nestlé is highly tightened by the EcoVadis methodology and helped us both to turn our CSR to make our company greener. We have grown together by developing green transportation alternatives like rail freight and bio gas trucks, thus creating synergy in the supply chain. Moreover, Nestlé introduced LPR to ‘Plantons pour l’avenir’ (Planting for the future), a private, non-political and independent fund that supports the French timber sector and protects the natural environment.
