CO2 can be saved
for the year 2019”

By using Euro Pool System reusable packaging, Kaufland has reduced its CO2 emissions by around 35,000 tons per year in 2018. ‘Thanks to the new countries, around 42,000 tonnes of CO2 can be saved for the year 2019’, emphasizes Stefan Lukes, Head of Purchasing Fruits and Vegetables International.

‘Moreover, packaging and product damage is avoided, and valuable resources are conserved at the same time.’

The cooperation between Kaufland and Euro Pool System started in 2003 and was limited to homeland Germany. Between 2014 and 2015, the initiative was successfully expanded to its retail locations in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. Today our green returnable trays can also be seen in Kaufland stores throughout Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria.

Our returnable trays are now the standard packaging solution for the fruit and vegetable supply chain of the Kaufland stores throughout Europe. By doing so,
the German-based hypermarket chain continues with its transition away from disposable packaging
