INTERVIEW WITH PAUL CARTUYVELS

in the Euro Pool
Group Challenge

Ania: Hi Paul, How are you? At this moment you are the number 1 participant in the Euro Pool Group Challenge ranking, well done, congratulations!

Paul: Thank you!

Ania: And now, of course, everyone wants to know who is Paul Cartuyvels? Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Paul: ....well Ania, I am Paul Cartuyvels and with
my 55 years I am becoming a bit of a grayish man.
I have been working at Euro Pool for about 14 years as a mobile technician for region West.

Ania: We can see by EPG Challenge results that you are very fanatic. Can you tell us more about which sports you practice and how often?

Paul: Cycling is at the top of my list and walking during holidays is my number two. Unfortunately I have to keep saying “no” to running and jogging, since my knees do not allow this anymore… And how often? Let’s say that I normally do 4 cycling routes a week, alone or with my friends. I prefer the longer distances, which are very time-consuming when you compare it to running, for example.

Ania: What is your motivation? Why do you find sports so important?

Paul: I want to be able to get on with this and stay fit for quite few more years, and that drives me. Also, when practicing any kind of sports you can expand your circle of friends and that is a nice advantage too.

Ania: What do you think about the Euro Pool Group Challenge?

Paul: I think it is a nice initiative from the company, especially knowing that the purpose is to collect money to sponsor charities and sustainable initiatives.

Ania: What is your goal? Would you like to finish first this year?

Paul: ... I set goals according to my current health and to stay healthy. As long as my health permits it, I will not stop trying to succeed!

Ania: What would you like to say to our colleagues who are not taking part in the EPG Challenge?

Paul: I would say: fly in and discover what a work-out does to you. For me it already works positively for my mind and body, and it also helps me to forget my work and to relax!

Ania: Would you like to say something to your colleagues who are ranked 2 and 3 at this moment?

Paul: Sure! I would say “Dear sport friends and sport colleagues, my mind is set to receiving flowers at the end of this year and once my mind is set …… .. just ask our Veerle…”

Ania: Thank you Paul and good luck in the Challenge. I hope your words will motivate more of our colleagues to join!

Paul: Hope so too, thank you.
